Ancré au coeur de la ville de Nantes, dans un vaste parc sur la rive de la Loire, d'où partaient les bateaux négriers, le Mémorial inauguré en 2012 est un lieu de recueil, de méditation et de réflexion. En dédiant le monument aux textes antiesclavagistes à travers le monde, les concepteurs Krzysztof Wodiczko et Julian Bonder offrent un espace où les mots luttent contre l'oubli et activent une mémoire citoyenne.
